    THAT Council closes the meeting to the public pursuant to section 90 (1) of the Community Charter to permit discussion of items related to the following:

    • (b), personal information about an identifiable individual who is being considered for a municipal award or honour;
    • (e), the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements, if the council considers that disclosure could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality;
    • (g), litigation or potential litigation affecting the municipality;
    • (i), the receipt of advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose;
    • (j), information that is prohibited, or information that if it were presented in a document would be prohibited, from disclosure under section 21 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act;
    • (l), discussions with municipal officers and employees respecting municipal objectives, measures and progress reports for the purposes of preparing an annual report under section 98 [annual municipal report]; and
    • (m), a matter that, subject to sections 12 (3), 16 (1), 18.1 (1), 20 (1) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, is such that the public may be excluded from the meeting.

Jennifer Saville and Natasha Eberle presented the 2024 audited report, which covered the following key topics:

  • Statement of Financial Position
  • Statement of Cash Flows
  • Statement of Operations and Accumulated Surplus.

The council had no questions or comments regarding the report.

Paul Murray introduced himself to Mayor and Council and outlined the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) performance evaluation process. He noted that the process will remain consistent with previous years and emphasized that it is a positive, ongoing initiative aimed at continuous improvement and organizational success.

Council thanked Paul and said they look forward to the process.

Paul left the meeting at 5:50pm.

CAO Tracy announced the grand opening of the Rotary Amenity Building at Den Duyf Park, scheduled for June 16th from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, and encouraged community attendance.

She acknowledged the dedication of Pemberton Fire Rescue and Pemberton Meadows Fire Department during their recent Wildland fire training exercise.

She also provided information on upcoming community engagement opportunities at the Farmers Market, with themed sessions planned as follows:

  • June 13: Bylaw

  • July 18: Water Conservation

  • August 15: Planning and Development

  • September 26: Flood Preparedness

Council members were invited to participate and asked to indicate their interest.

    THAT Council approves the resolution titled Support for Natural Asset Inventory Development for submission to the 2025 UBCM Convention.

Mayor Richman highlighted several community events:

  • The Pemberton Valley Trails Association hosted an International Trails Day event on June 7, 2024, at One Mile Lake.

  • The Pemberton Museum has opened for its summer hours.

  • The Pemberton Arts Council’s Mountain Muse Festival is taking place on June 13 and June 14.

  • Graduation weekend for Pemberton Secondary School Grade 12 students is on June 14, with the Graduation Parade starting at 10:00am.

Mayor Richman also announced the Annual Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 9:00 AM.

Councillor Craddock expressed appreciation to staff for the boardwalk maintenance underway at One Mile Lake and noted the beautiful landscaping and floral displays throughout the Village.

Councillor Nightingale reiterated the upcoming Mountain Muse Festival scheduled for June 13 and 14 and acknowledged the recent PVTA event, emphasizing the strong community collaboration and volunteer engagement.
